Since her ascension to the CEO role in 2018, Carleen Gray has continued Stahls’ (asi/88984) rich history of innovation and expansion in the decoration space. New products and techniques are the norm for the St. Clair Shores, MI-based company, and Gray has pushed the 92-year-old firm in an intriguing new direction with the addition of contract decorating to go alongside the equipment and supplies it sells. And after Stahls’ acquired software technology company Fulfill Engine last fall, this year it rolled out a new software offering of the same name that’s designed to streamline print-on-demand and bulk fulfillment for apparel decorating businesses of all sizes.

On the ground at GroupeSTAHL headquarters, Gray also oversaw the company’s development of proprietary sustainable raw materials for products like cleaner inks, continued capabilities with AI and streamlined print-on-demand operations. Gray also expanded the company’s branding effort into the Australian market – one of 12 countries that GroupeSTAHL has manufacturing, warehouses and customer service facilities in, all of which Gray oversees as the leader of the company’s global business. In totality, the bold initiatives send Gray surging five spots on this year’s Counselor Power 50.
