How To Enjoy A Stress-Free Staycation
Lifestyle tips for busy professionals. This month: Getting the most out of a vacation at home.
1. Sleep In
The best part of staycation? Sleeping in! Getting the requisite hours of shut-eye is important for your health, so feel free to catch up on the ZZZs you miss out on during the normal work week. Also, take advantage of afternoon power naps.
2. Unplug From Email
The temptation to check your work email is real, so do everything you can to fight it. Set your away message, update your voicemail and put your laptop in the desk drawer. If you have a close colleague at work, ask them only to contact you with a true emergency.
3. Set Aside the Chores
You may want to run around doing errands and try to accomplish all the home projects you never have time for, but that’s not the point of the staycation. Simply relax and do the things you enjoy at the leisurely pace you can’t do during the working days.
4. Go Outside
There will be time to binge that Netflix series or finally read that book. But when the weather’s nice, that’s the time to leave the home office behind and get outside. Take a stroll through the neighborhood, go shopping – anything to get some fresh air.
5. Make the Most of It
Been itching to do something fun close to home but you’ve never had the chance? There are so many things nearby that you keep putting off. Now’s your opportunity to take that pottery class, go to the driving range, visit a new store or stroll in the park.
