How To Maximize Your Social Media Efforts
Six tips for sharpening your social media skills.
1. Know Your Customer’s Journey
The only way to see if your social media strategy is beneficial to customers is to test it out yourself. Put yourself in your customers’ shoes and check out your various platforms, scouring for information they would be looking for, such as a link to your website, location, contact information, etc. You should also type in certain keywords or phrases in each platform’s search bar to see where (or if) your posts appear.
2. Schedule for the Best Time
Post something of value when your audience is actually online. Track the insights and analytics of your posts to see how many people are seeing them and at what times of the day and week. Target your posting around that schedule to maximize the amount of eyeballs your content receives. If you’re targeting the music market, post during the Grammys or VMAs. If you’re targeting the football crowd, post during game day. It’s important to get in the conversation when the chatter is loudest.
3. Be Social
It’s called social media for a reason. Engage your audience! Create dialogue that entices potential customers to interact with you. Respond quickly. Address concerns if they’re raised. Post meaningful content rather than noise. There’s a content overload, so make sure yours is valuable.
4. Start Filming
Your videos don’t have to be Oscar-worthy. Live video is available to everyone and creates an immediate, raw connection with your audience. Plus, live video can amplify your produced videos. For example, if you post a produced 20-minute video on Monday, consider going live on Tuesday to discuss it. Followers can ask you questions and you can go into more detail about your project.
5. Invest in Pinterest
Pinterest is underutilized not only in the promo space, but in every industry. While Facebook is oversaturated with ads, Pinterest remains largely untapped and offers way more bang for your buck. For example, you can spend $150 on a Pinterest ad and reach over 75,000 potential customers as a result. It’s going to take a lot more money for you to get that kind of visibility on Facebook, let alone other platforms or real-life advertising venues.
6. Attend Social Media Conferences
If you’re truly invested in social media, attend conferences to learn more tips, tricks and strategies to maximize your ROI. You can network with fellow social media experts to pick their brains and gain more insight and ideas that could expand your brand’s presence online.
