Ingredients for a Best Place to Work: A certified B Corp since 2010, Vancouver-based Fairware (asi/191452) has a “strong mission to drive social and environmental change,” says Sarah White, co-founder and chief operating officer. That tends to attract “passionate, committed people looking for purpose in their job,” she adds. “Internally, we work hard to live our policies day to day, so folks can show up as themselves.”
Inclusivity and anti-racism are hallmarks of Fairware’s company culture. “We look for cultural contribution over cultural fit,” White says.
The company has a hybrid model, with some employees fully remote, some in the office full time and some choosing a mix. The number of days people come into the office each week is dependent on how far away they live, to ensure a reasonable commute, White adds.
