Ingredients for a Best Place to Work: During the wildfires on Maui, one employee at the Lahaina, HI-based office of Williams & Associates (asi/360450) lost her house and everything in it. The company immediately rallied behind her, and thanks to their help, she and her family are now back on their feet – and she’s still working for the company. It’s a great example of how Williams & Associates treats every employee like a member of the family that founded the business in 1977 and still runs it today.
That family atmosphere extends to the three offices – Lahaina, Tucson and Tempe, AZ – where employees also share that vibe with clients. “Customers always come first in our company,” says senior account executive Miya Pilster. “If they aren’t happy, we aren’t happy. We will fight to the end for them. Luckily, we’ve built great partnerships with top suppliers that allow us to stand by our word.”

Top Benefits & Perks: Pilster is quick to point out her very favorite perk: she can bring her dog, Jaxin, to work. The ability for employees to bring their furry friends in creates a comfortable and fun atmosphere. “It’s amazing what a little puppy love can do for someone who just needs a little pep in their step,” she says. “Clients love to come and see the animals.” Management also allows everyone to take time off to care for family members without penalty, which Pilster says alleviates unnecessary work stress in a tough time.
