The millennial trio behind Team Phun (asi/342550) is riding a wave of success. With a showroom only two blocks from the beach, the young San Diego distributorship has cornered the SoCal market, catching the eyes of fellow surfers and skateboarders.

While some companies are reluctant to get online, Team Phun has dominated social media marketing with its #SundayPhunday campaign. “We target bars and restaurants because we know that culture,” says Jesse Goodwick, the principal owner who received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford.

Goodwick started Team Phun out of his garage in 2010. He then met with Sean Burns, a former sales rep at alphabroder (asi/34063), who received his master’s in business from San Diego State University, and Jared Lazar, a local graphic artist with more than 15,000 Instagram followers. “These guys feel like my brothers. We work hard from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and then we go out for beers. We brand ourselves as fun because we like to have fun,” Goodwick says.
