Barton, who makes her sixth appearance on the list, leads a team of 12 merchandisers that support the Top 40 distributor’s networks in over 200 locations across North America. The director of merchandising, who became responsible for Safeguard’s promotional products channel in 2017, notes that her main focus is on developing “supplier strategy and relationships, as well as managing ongoing education with the sales and merchandising teams, and coordinating solutions for larger customer opportunities.” Barton and the team at the Dallas-based firm saw a 16% sales increase in 2022 with close to $140 million in promo revenue, beating its 2019 high of $136 million. Still, lower influence scores from both Power 50 members and the promo industry cause Barton to drop five spots on this year’s list.
