Employees’ favorite perk: Great healthcare. “In this rural area, benefits are key for a family,” says Tricia Piontek, senior vice president/general manager. “My husband is a farmer so benefits aren’t available to him. As we moved through my tenure with The Magnet Group, the benefit package provided us with a comfort level we needed for a family with five children. Maintaining that package at the same or better level and keeping out-of-pocket expenses as minimal as possible for employees was a priority for the executive team.”
Tip for finding/retaining great staff: “Make sure employees and their families are taken care of and provide an opportunity for a safety net through 401(k) plans,” says Piontek. “And make it a priority to educate them on the benefits of this sort of program.”
Company culture mantra: “Either you’re helping the client or you’re helping the person who’s helping the client,” says Dan Jellinek, executive vice president. He adds: “At TMG, we raise money for March of Dimes as well as United Way. One way we do this is each employee can buy a ticket for $1 and the top three ‘dollar raisers’ are the winners of a pie in the face. Our employees love these events and the lucky ones that receive a pie in the face could not be happier. To be able to laugh at ourselves and take one for the team are extremely gratifying.”
