Tom Robertson, president of Salem, VA-based Robertson Marketing Group (asi/309630), passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 18. He was 57.

After graduating from Roanoke College with a degree in business administration, Robertson joined the family business, where he served as president for the past 34 years. Robertson Marketing Group was a Top 40 distributor from 2011 to 2016, as well as Counselor’s Family Business of the Year in 2005.

Robertson was also active in his community, serving on the boards of the Salem Rotary, Virginia Western Foundation and the Salem YMCA.

Robertson is survived by his wife, Meg; their three sons, Michael, Alex and Isaac; brothers John and David; and stepmother Joyce Robertson.

“Our brother Tom, who was our business partner for over 30 years, was loved and cherished by all those who knew him,” said David Robertson, co-owner of Robertson Marketing Group. “As a family and as a company, we are profoundly saddened by his passing. The incredible outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time is a testament to Tom. He touched a lot of people during his life.”

“Tom was an amazing role model for my brother David and I growing up,” said John Robertson, partner at Robertson Marketing Group. “As a business partner, he was loyal, honest and always willing to work hard in order to move the business forward. Our biggest accomplishment is that we worked alongside each other for 35 years, raised our seven sons next door to one another and always enjoyed traveling together with our families on vacation.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a service to celebrate his life at a later date. Donations can be made in honor of Tom to the Salem YMCA or charity of choice.
