The bumper stickers have spoken: Pete Buttigieg will take the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

In a second round of primary polling, ASI asked New Hampshire residents which Democratic presidential candidate bumper sticker they would be most willing to put on their car, if they were to receive a sticker from each candidate. Mayor Pete took 28.6% of the votes, with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders coming in second with 24.8% and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren ranking third with 11.9% of the votes.

If you’re skeptical of the accuracy of a bumper sticker-based poll, consider this: ASI’s first bumper sticker poll for the Iowa caucus was proven right after Buttigieg, the former South Bend, IN mayor, nabbed a win – with a slim lead over Sanders – in that state. (And if you’re keeping score, ASI also predicted that Sanders would be the runner-up in Iowa.)

In the New Hampshire bumper sticker poll, Buttigieg enjoyed widespread support across all demographics, according to Nathaniel Kucsma, executive director of research and corporate marketing at ASI. Sanders’ support was strongest among men and women under 55. Older residents were more supportive of Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard had much stronger support among men than women.

The New Hampshire bumper sticker survey was conducted from Feb. 4 to Feb. 7 via the Google Consumer Survey network by ASI’s market research team. A total of 427 valid responses were counted in the single-question poll.

Of course, bumper stickers aren’t the only campaign swag of note. The Democratic candidates also have their online stores stocked with an array of creative merch, from branded dog collars to tea towels printed with a signature hotdish recipe. ASI’s editorial team recently ranked the merch stores of the top eight candidates, finding Warren’s and Sanders' branded offerings the strongest.
