BDA Tackles Super Bowl Merch
When it comes to Super Bowl merch, BDA (asi/137616) is the reigning champion. This is the eighth year in a row that the Top 40 distributor is in charge of merchandising for the big game. BDA is working on 30 unique campaigns for the NFL’s biggest event, including staff uniforms, sponsor merchandise, brand giveaways and tailgate items.
Among the branded items will be T-shirts, cups, winter jackets, wristbands and pins – all custom ideas with the “goal of elevating and supporting the Super Bowl,” according to Jay Deutsch, CEO and co-founder of BDA. Deutsch wouldn’t get too specific about the promotions planned for the February 4 game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots, but he did note that “this year’s apparel and giveaway items reflect the weather in Minneapolis,” where Super Bowl LII will be played.
Though handling the Super Bowl’s merchandising needs is a monumental task, Deutsch says the BDA team is up to the challenge. “We leverage our in-house experts throughout the process,” he said. “From creative and sourcing, to kitting and logistics, we have our clients covered every step of the way.”
The Super Bowl isn’t the only major event BDA is merchandising. The distributor is also currently working on projects for the United States Olympic Committee, the NFL Pro Bowl and the NBA All-Star Game. “Logistically, it’s a busy time for BDA,” Deutsch said.
BDA has been an official partner for the NFL, supporting its gifting and uniform needs since 2010. The company is also the official partner of the NFL League Store. In its most recent listing, Counselor ranks BDA as the fourth largest distributor in the industry, after the firm reported 2016 North American promo product sales of $284 million.
