Aakron Line Deals With Malware Issue
Akron, NY-based supplier Aakron Line (asi/30270) is alerting clients that its Constant Contact account has been compromised. The company advises customers to not open an email from the account or to click on the link within it because of a possible malware virus.

“We have worked with Constant Contact to reset our account username and passwords, and Constant Contact has blocked the links that were in the emails so they lead to dead web pages now,” said Ashley Hazlett, marketing manager with Aakron Line.
According to Hazlett, there were two compromised emails. They were titled with the recipient’s name and the word “statement” written after. “These did not look like normal marketing emails – just text with a link to view their statement, which also did not look anything like how we would send a statement to a client,” Hazlett said. “We never use Constant Contact for billing or statements.”
After learning of the malware issue, Aakron emailed customers with a notice about the Constant Contact account being compromised. That email just contained the company logo and text, Hazlett said.
Hazlett noted that none of the supplier’s other systems or accounts have been compromised. The issue was only with Aakron’s Constant Contact account.
If you received the suspicious email and clicked on the link, Aakron advises you to contact your IT administrator immediately to resolve the issue.
