Barker Specialty (asi/132690) has gone platinum.

That’s right, the Cheshire, CT-based promotional products company is celebrating its 70th year. Founded by Gloria and Herbert Barker in 1951, the distributorship grew into a multi-million-dollar business. Over the years, the Barkers’ four children became involved in the company, and the firm earned awards and recognitions, including a spot on Counselor’s Best Places to Work list. 

Son Gerry Barker continues to steer the ship as company president. “I am so proud that my parents’ vision has become a reality and the company they started in their kitchen has become one of the premier promotional products companies in the country with nearly 80 employees,” Gerry said in a press release.

Gloria passed away in 2017 and her husband Herbert passed away in 2019, just after their grandson Max, Gerry’s son, joined the business as an account manager. “While I am saddened Gloria and Herb are not here to share our 70th anniversary, I am thrilled they were both here for our 65^th and we are committed to continuing the wonderful legacy they created,” Gerry said.
