PromoKitchen to Address Mental Health During Virtual Event
Army veteran Dan Nevins, who lost his legs in combat, will talk about overcoming obstacles and shed light on veteran suicide during this free event.
PromoKitchen, an independent volunteer group in the promotional products industry, is holding a virtual fundraiser and speaker event to discuss mental health and support the Wounded Warrior Project.
During his talk, Dan Nevins, a decorated U.S. Army veteran who lost both his legs during combat in Iraq in 2004, will raise awareness about the increase in veteran suicide. Nevins will also shed light on how to support the veterans and active-duty military in your life who share similar battles. The event is meant to “create a safe space for people in our industry to talk about the things that aren’t talked about, especially the aftereffects the pandemic continues to have on so many of us,” according to PromoKitchen.
Nevins was introduced to the promotional products industry when he became the brand ambassador for Basecamp, a brand from Sweda (asi/90305) that’s tied directly to charitable giving. Earlier this year, the Top 40 supplier donated $100,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project. It’s the sixth year Sweda and Nevins have partnered together for charitable giving. Nevins has spoken at numerous industry events in the past.
“If you’ve heard Dan’s story before, you haven’t heard this part of his story,” says PromoKitchen volunteer Amanda Delaney about the upcoming virtual event. “Dan has an incredibly powerful way of speaking on overcoming some extremely heavy life events, and he shares our passion for educating others on the importance of talking about mental health.”
The event, which will be held Thursday, May 13 at noon EDT, is free to attend, though donations are encouraged and are currently being accepted for the Wounded Warrior Project. Register for the event here.
