Netflix Partners With Walmart to Launch Digital Storefront
The retailer’s website will have a section dedicated to merchandise tied to Netflix shows, such as “Squid Game” and “Stranger Things.”
If you’re a fan of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things,” there’s an assortment of branded nostalgia goodies coming exclusively to Walmart.
The retail giant has announced a partnership with the world’s largest streaming service to create a digital storefront – the Netflix Hub – on Walmart’s website.
The online shopping destination will sell merchandise tied to Netflix’s hit shows. Although T-shirts, stickers, dolls and other Netflix branded products are already available from several retailers, as well as through Netflix.Shop, this will be the first online storefront that the company has created with a national retailer.
“We want to continue to meet fans wherever they are, whether that’s through our biggest online marketplace at Walmart, or the more boutique and curated Netflix.Shop,” Josh Simon, Netflix’s vice president of consumer products, told the Wall Street Journal. “The real value is in reinforcing fan love for the shows and films they see on Netflix.”
In addition to new products, Netflix Hub will soon launch Netflix Fan Select, allowing viewers the opportunity to vote for merchandise they’d like to see from their Netflix shows. Walmart merchants will then produce such merch.
“Over the next few months, customers and fans will be able to find compelling, coveted products in a variety of categories, including music, apparel, toys and games, for fan-favorite shows like ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Nailed It!’ and ‘CoComelon,’ as well as new shows like ‘Ada Twist, Scientist,’” Jeff Evans, executive vice president at Walmart U.S., wrote on the company’s corporate website.
