Charles River Releases Recycled Polyester Outerwear

The quilted jackets are part of the Top 40 supplier’s fall collection, which includes an array of new styles, colors and prints.

Top 40 supplier Charles River Apparel (asi/44620) is expanding its collection of eco-friendly products with the release of two jacket styles made of 100% recycled polyester.

The Lithium Quilted Hooded Parka (5245) for women is made of 100% recycled polyester.

The Lithium Quilted Hooded Parka (5245) for women and the Lithium Quilted Hooded Jacket (9245) for men are made of yarn derived from recycled plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles. The full-zip jackets are filled with PrimaLoft, a recycled down alternative, for added warmth. The men’s and women’s versions are both available in black, and the women’s style is also available in navy.

The Lithium Quilted Hooded Jacket (9245) for men features diamond quilting in the body and is filled with PrimaLoft, a recycled down alternative.

“Sustainability has always been on our mind as a company,” said Alice Lau, vice president of supply chain for Charles River Apparel. “We continue to move forward with plans for sustainable packaging, partnerships with sustainable factories and the use of eco-friendly fabrics made from nature with minimal use of chemicals and toxins. We’re also committed to finding greener ways of textile dyeing and finishing with chemical-free dyes that are kind to our environment.”

Charles River first ventured into eco-friendly fashion in 2015, with the release of its Radius Vest and Lithium Jacket, Lau added. Both styles are made from recycled polyester. The supplier also released a women’s wrap cardigan made from organic Supima cotton, according to Lau.

The new Lithium parka and jacket are part of Charles River’s fall 2021 collection, which features new styles, colors and prints. Distributors can browse the whole collection on the supplier’s website or by downloading the digital catalog.

Charles River Apparel ranked 40th on Counselor’s latest list of the 40 largest suppliers in the industry, with 2020 North American promotional products sales of $34.1 million.
