Decorating Roundup: Arcus Printers Launches UV DTF Transfer Sheets
Also, Brother introduces “direct-to-embroidery” technology, and Stickers International released labels on a roll.
Arcus Printers, a manufacturer of decoration technology and equipment, has released A/B transfer sheets for UV flatbed printers, allowing decorators to expand their existing flatbed printer capability to include UV direct-to-film transfers.
“Our new UV DTF transfer sheets are a game-changer for the industry,” said Brad Belk, sales director at Axiom America, parent company of Arcus. “They allow for high-resolution, weatherproof prints on a variety of nonporous surfaces without the need for direct printing setups. This not only saves time and reduces costs, but also expands the range of items decorators can customize, from drinkware and phone cases to awards.”
Benefits of the transfer sheets include cost and time savings. Instead of printing directly onto a substrate, decorators can print transfers that will adhere to hard goods. Using rotary printing, as on drinkware, prints 75% slower than producing a flat transfer on a UV flatbed printer, which can then be added to a flat or curved surface, according to Arcus. The transfers work for a range of surfaces, including glass, plastics and metal. They’re ideal for customizing drinkware, phone cases, awards and other promotional products without needing custom direct-print setups.
Plus, decorators can create high-contrast, full-color designs that are water- and scratch-resistant, ensuring long-lasting results. The ink is UV-cured and encapsulated in a varnish layer, providing superior durability and protection against environmental factors when applied properly.
Brother Introduces Direct-to-Embroidery Printing
Brother International Corporation (asi/12600) is bringing innovation to the embroidery world – adding so-called “direct-to-embroidery” capabilities to its GTXpro series of direct-to-garment (DTG) printers.
The DTE system allows embroiderers to create designs using white polyester thread, followed by a wash-resistant pretreatment. The fabric is then transferred to a Brother DTG printer. Using a high-resolution camera, the DTE system precisely aligns the embroidery with the remaining artwork to add vibrant colors and intricate details directly to the stitching. In addition, the system can decorate non-embroidered areas of the garment as well.
The new printer hasn’t been officially released yet, but a video on Brother’s site shows the new technology in action.
