Last month, we invited the three Fashion Faceoff judges to view the athleisure mini-collections created by contestants at Moore College of Art & Design. Though we won’t be revealing the winners of our contest until the August issue of Wearables, we’d like to share some of the judges’ reactions to the contestants’ work.

Victoria Jenkins was inspired by avant-garde Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and her art installation “Infinity Room.” In Jenkins’ words: “I was instinctively inspired by her piece because infinite bliss is my design aesthetic and name. My infinity concept allows me to explore this awesome representation of infinity through space. My print represents the night sky, and my infinity hood and wrap scarf represent my concept as well.”

The judges liked the creativity of the infinity hood and wrap scarf, as well as the style lines of the women’s athleisure look. Jenkins digital print and screen print were both based on hand painting, and the judges liked that aesthetic, particularly on her Vantage Apparel garment. “The hand-painted look of the front body yoke and sleeve patches shows great use of contrast color and is very well-executed,” says Savannah DeVore. “It’s a creative use of the apparel blank. It looks custom, and I like that.”
