Wearables Editor-in-Chief Nicole Rollender and I took some shots at the wacky fashion trends that have been blowing up the internet lately, like male rompers, also known as the romphim; the ugly shoe fad; and all manner of hideous denim, from mom jeans with clear "knee windows" to diaper-reminiscent pants with detachable legs. Watch the video below for our commentary. For a better look at the trends we trash, check out the slideshow below the video.
Here are some of the fashions we discuss in the video:
The Romphim has already raised more than $365,000 on Kickstarter, well over its initial $10,000 goal.
Sean Connery made the male romper look good in Goldfinger, though even James Bond doesn't look completely comfortable in the garment.
Another example of a male romper that actually works, at least if you have the physique of a model.
Ugly shoes, like these rock-encrusted Crocs from Christopher Kane, are apparently a big trend in 2017.
These "flat-form" sandals from Gucci are another example of the ugly shoe.
Maison Margiela created these destroyed high-top sneakers, which retail for roughly $1,500.
This oversized T-shirt, a collaboration between Vetements and Hanes, will run you nearly $700.
These jeans, available on Nordstrom, come pre-caked in mud and sell for $425.
These high-waisted, cropped mom jeans from Top Shop feature a futuristic clear knee window. The only question is why?
These jeans are a collaboration between Y Project and Opening Ceremony. High-waisted saddle-shaped shorts with detachable legs? An instant classic.
