Safety Gear Maker Adds Post-Consumer Recycled Products

Ergodyne, which is offered by several industry suppliers, recently launched a campaign outlining its sustainability efforts.

Ergodyne, a St. Paul, MN-based manufacturer of safety work gear, recently launched a collection of four new personal protective staples made with post-consumer recycled materials.

“Sustainable products must perform and protect, first and foremost,” said Tim Gallant, associate vice president of product at Ergodyne. “Quality and durability have always been at the core of our promise to workers. Anything less is considered wasteful and unsafe.”

Safety-gear brand Ergodyne has released a line of products made with post-consumer recycled materials.

To that end, the company has released a line of four products, made from post-consumer recycled materials, “all tested to the same stringent durability threshold as the rest of our line,” Gallant said. Products featured in the line are a hi-vis vest made from 11 single-use plastic water bottles, a hi-vis shirt made from roughly 30 post-consumer recycled water bottles, coated gloves made with 37% post-consumer plastics, and a fleece balaclava made from 95% post-consumer plastics.

The company also recently launched a “Blue Marble” campaign to share its overall approach to sustainability. Among its efforts have been a concerted effort to minimize material use, either through bulk buying options or smarter packaging strategies. On average, Ergodyne says it’s seeing a 25% reduction in packaging materials as a result. The company’s primary fulfillment center includes sustainable enhancements such as LED lighting, environmentally friendly landscaping and hardscaping, and infiltration and biofiltration basins to reduce runoff and increase biodiversity.
