Stormtech Is Now Climate Smart-Certified
The certification and training program helped the Top 40 supplier measure and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Top 40 supplier Stormtech (asi/89869) has committed to shrinking its carbon footprint.
The Burnaby, BC-based firm has successfully completed the Climate Smart Training and Certification program, a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions-reduction program from BMO Radicle, Inc. that helps businesses become sustainability leaders while reducing business costs.
Stormtech said it’s achieved significant reductions in carbon emissions by completing the program, adding that the move has also helped to improve employee morale and opened new market opportunities to work with like-minded organizations.
“By prioritizing sustainable sourcing, incorporating environmentally friendly materials, and packaging and optimizing distribution channels, we’ve been able to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining product performance and quality,” said Georgeta Navodarszky, vice president of supply chain at Stormtech.
The Climate Smart program combines training, tools and technical assistance to allow companies to measure and reduce their GHG emissions, make informed decisions to invest in efficiencies, and communicate their sustainability initiatives in a data-driven way. BMO Radicle has helped more than 1,200 businesses reach their emissions reduction goals through its Climate Smart program – including Vancouver-based distributor Image Group (asi/230059) in 2022.
The Climate Smart program has enabled firms to reach an average of 24% emissions reductions against their baseline – and $4.7 million (CAD) in cost savings.
“By completing the Climate Smart training program, companies are pioneering a new path toward Net Zero, making environmental stewardship and financial prosperity two sides of the same coin,” said Saj Shapiro, head of BMO Radicle.
With 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $65.7 million, Stormtech ranks 26th on Counselor’s most recent list of the top suppliers in the industry. The 45-year-old company, which focuses on creating high-quality outdoor apparel and accessories, donates 1% of global sales to charitable initiatives focused on outdoor exploration and environmental stewardship.
