The Bright Side: Charles River Apparel Expands Breast Cancer Research Giveback
The supplier, through the end of October, is donating 10% of the purchase price on 16 styles as part of its River to Research program.
Charles River Apparel (asi/44620) is increasing its efforts to help fight breast cancer. The Sharon, MA-based supplier has expanded its line of styles that support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to 16.
From Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, the giveback program, “River to Research,” will donate 10% of the purchase price of the select pink styles to BCRF.
“Breast cancer has impacted so many families worldwide, including my own,” said Jason Lipsett, vice president of strategic initiatives at Charles River Apparel. “BCRF is conducting vital work as the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. We are proud to support their mission and contribute to their efforts in making a difference.”
Since 2022, Charles River Apparel has raised $24,000 to fuel BCRF’s mission of preventing and curing breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. That’s enough funding to enroll nine patients in a BCRF-supported clinical trial, support 480 hours of groundbreaking research or fund two years’ worth of general supplies for a BCRF-supported lab, according to the supplier.
“We deeply appreciate Charles River Apparel’s steadfast commitment to advancing research,” said Dr. Dorraya El-Ashry, chief scientific officer of BCRF. “Every diagnosis puts lives at risk. Answers are within reach, and we need them urgently. Charles River Apparel is making a genuine and tangible impact on moving research forward, faster.”
Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF funds researchers who have been deeply involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and metastasis. According to BCRF, every two minutes a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer, and research is critical to improve treatment options and end breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Progress depends on investing in scientists who attack breast cancer from all angles.
River to Research is part of the supplier’s Charles River Cares charitable giving initiative. This year, products that support BCRF include pink shades of classic and new styles, including the women’s Camden spliced crewneck sweatshirt (5523), women’s coastal sweatshirt (5483) and the New Englander doggie rain jacket (1099). Charles River Apparel said it will donate a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $20,000 to BCRF.
Founded in 1983, Charles River Apparel is a supplier of New England-inspired outerwear and activewear for corporations, businesses, school teams, retail stores, athletic groups and college students. The third-generation, family-owned company has more than 13,000 distributors and retailers nationwide.
