Liqui-Mark (asi/67675) is celebrating the big 5-0.
After decades of navigating challenges, from its transition into the promotional products industry to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Happauge, NY-based supplier hits its 50th anniversary milestone this year.
The firm, which specializes in manufacturing and selling writing instruments, was founded in 1974 by Stuart Goodelman.
He was working for another manufacturing company at the time, says his son Josh Goodelman, Liqui-Mark’s second generation of leadership and the supplier’s current president and CEO. One day on a sales call, one of Stuart’s clients told him that he’d give him an order big enough to put him in business if Goodelman went off and started his own company.
Stuart took a leap, and Liqui-Mark was born.
“It’s a great achievement – having gone through so many ups and downs in business that many people have faced, and you’re still here to do it,” Josh told ASI Media.
“If you weren’t doing something right as a company, and you didn’t have great people, you wouldn’t be here for this long. You just wouldn’t.” Josh Goodelman, Liqui-Mark (asi/67675)
Over the decades, the firm added factories in the United States for manufacturing, serving as a retail supplier of pens, markers, highlighters and other writing instruments until they added a promotional products arm in 2005. That’s another milestone for Liqui-Mark – 20 years in the promo business.
Stuart passed away in 2018, at which time Josh took over as president and CEO. He runs the family business alongside his brother, Craig.
“If you weren’t doing something right as a company, and you didn’t have great people, you wouldn’t be here for this long,” Josh said. “You just wouldn’t.”
