The Bright Side: Overture Promotions Hits 6-Year Milestone With Domestic Violence Shelter

The woman-owned Top 40 distributor announces award recognition in accordance with its initiatives and partnership with the shelter.

Top 40 distributor Overture Promotions (asi/288473) has hit the six-year mark on its partnership with A Safe Place, a domestic violence and human trafficking shelter that serves the Lake County, IL, area.

In recognition of this long-standing alliance, Overture received the Community Ambassador award at the Unmask the Violence Gala in Lake County.

“This award honors a special community partner whose ongoing support and true spirit of volunteerism advances the mission of A Safe Place, and whose dedication advances the rights of victims of domestic violence and human trafficking,” said Pat Davenport, CEO of A Safe Place.

Overture’s partnership with A Safe Place started in 2018 and has become an integral part of its overall corporate responsibility strategy (CSR), executives said. Throughout the year, Overture supports the shelter with volunteer efforts, event attendance, on-site drives, and fundraising scholarships, said Victoria Robertson, marketing manager at the Waukegan, IL-based distributorship.

This year, Overture designed and donated T-shirts for the EmpoweRun 5K fundraiser, as well as swag bags for the Wine, Women & Shoes event, according to the company.

Overture also said it organizes Thanksgiving drives, where staff donate turkey dinners for upwards of 50 families in A Safe Place housing, as well as donating home care kits to survivors needing essential supplies for a new start.

“What’s great about the partnership with A Safe Place is that it’s not about perpetuating victimhood, but rather, empowering survivors to begin anew,” said Robertson.

Overture is a minority-owned, women-led company that ranked seventh on Counselor’s 2024 Best Places to Work list for large distributorships. Based on reported 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $121.1 million, the firm was 22nd on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry.
