SnugZ USA Releases Its First ESG Report
The Top 40 supplier said 2023 served as a baseline year to gather essential data on its environmental footprint and social responsibility initiatives.
Top 40 supplier SnugZ USA (asi/88060) has released its first-ever environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, dubbed “Elevated Together.”
The West Jordan, UT-based company said the report uses 2023 data as a baseline, allowing it to assess its environmental footprint, social responsibility initiatives and corporate culture in a transparent and accountable way – and help it set ESG goals for the future.
SnugZ CEO Brandon Mackay, a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of the most influential people in promo, called the ESG report a “comprehensive overview” of the supplier’s practices. He added that it highlights “our commitment to responsible business practices, ethical decision-making and our ongoing efforts to create a lasting impact on the world around us.”
“While we know we have a ways to go,” he continued, “we are proud of what we have accomplished and are excited for our future endeavors.”
The report details SnugZ’s recycling efforts, manufacturing practices, employee diversity and benefits, giveback strategy, and product safety and testing. Among the highlights: 18 tons of cardboard were recycled last year.
The supplier, which offered 10 certified eco-friendly products in 2023, said it plans to add more than 26 eco-friendly items to its lineup this year.
On the giveback side, SnugZ noted that it’s donated more than $400,000 over the last four years to the Wounded Warrior Project, including portions from all Basecamp item sales. Last year’s Basecamp sales helped the supplier present the nonprofit with a check for $107,329. In addition, SnugZ raised about $29,000 by participating in the organization’s Carry Forward 5K run in 2022 and 2023, and it’s provided $40,000 worth of in-kind product donations to the nonprofit over the last three years.
Other charitable giving includes a $1,000 donation to Water4Good to help build clean water towers in Mexico, through a PromoCares initiative. Plus, the supplier donated more than $22,000 worth of its own products to local schools and charities.
Going forward, SnugZ said it plans to focus on sustainable packaging and to ensure that all shipping boxes leaving its facilities are recycled. Other goals include expanding its eco-friendly product category to include reusable products and recyclable products made from recycled materials.
SnugZ said it will also be setting targets for reducing waste and energy use in its facilities, as well as targets for reducing its carbon footprint. And it will ensure social compliance audits and supply chain traceability for all Tier 2 facilities.
Founded in 1989, SnugZ employs more than 1,000 people and specializes in the manufacture and sale of lanyards, health and beauty products, drinkware and corporate gifts. Based on reported 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $113 million, SnugZ USA ranked 15th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
