Best Places to Work: #44 – Metropak
Find out what makes this supplier a top promo industry workplace.
Company Size: Medium (26-100 employees)
Location: Richardson, TX
Work Model: Hybrid
Year Founded: 1976
Company Culture: Metropak (asi/70830), according to co-owner and Vice President Edward Hanson, balances hard work and a results-driven mindset with plenty of fun: company-wide potluck lunches, competitions like best ugly sweater and decorated offices, and a “back counter” that is stocked with treats like donuts, popcorn, cheese and crackers and more. The Texas-based supplier holds an “Employee of the Quarter” luncheon where the winner receives a $500 cash prize and a trophy. And in addition to a generous PTO plan and simple IRA with company contribution, the supplier’s recent growth really resonates with employees. “I know our people like to see growth and opportunities within our walls,” says Hanson.
COVID Changes: Metropak is maintaining a hybrid approach, with the majority of employees having the ability to work remote. Still, “most are in the office,” Hanson says. “More departments are coming back but like the flexibility to work remote.” The company stepped up its communication with employees during the peak of COVID through Zoom, email, phone calls and texts. The idea? “Keep everyone engaged and let them know they’re important to our company success.”
Parting Tip: “Referrals and friends,” says Hanson, “are a great resource for finding employees.”
