Obituary: Janet Montgomery, T.D. Mills
Janet Marie Montgomery of T.D. Mills Promotional Products (asi/272650) in Hershey, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 12 of cancer. She was 42.
Born in Lebanon, PA, in 1977, to June (Moyer) Heagy and the late Rev. David Heagy, she grew up working on her family’s dairy farm. She graduated from Annville-Cleona High School and the Graphic Arts department at Lebanon Vo-Tech School in 1995, and joined T.D. Mills in 1997, where she worked for over 20 years.
Montgomery began her career as an order entry administrative associate, and worked her way up to assisting with artwork design and setup, order processing, customer service and deliveries, and was eventually the personal assistant to original owner Tom Mills. When the company was purchased in 2016, Montgomery was instrumental with the ownership transition and implementing a new software system.
“She was an invaluable employee who initiated some of our first methods of streamlining order processing,” says sales rep Kristin Mills Brown. “She was an excellent worker, innovative about how to make the company more efficient and always willing to assist in any role. She was a loyal, steadfast employee and contributed to making T.D. Mills the successful company it is today. She will be dearly missed.”
Montgomery was the youth director at Mt. Hope United Christian Church and organized fundraisers for the Mastersonville Fire Company, both in Manheim, PA. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking camping trips with her family. She was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and often organized picnics and served homecooked meals for family and friends.
Montgomery is survived by her mother, June; her husband, Adam, with whom she would have celebrated 18 years of marriage on April 13; children Alex Scott and Britney Joy; brothers Allen (Eileen Eberly), Marlin (Jen Jordan), both of Lebanon, and Wayne (Jen Bucks) of Bath, NY; in-laws Robert and Rebecca Montgomery of Manheim; brother-in-law Troy (Butch) and sister-in-law Shana Montgomery, also of Manheim; and 14 nieces and nephews: Kevin, Bryan, Megan, Kyle (Renee), Brooke, Amie, Paige, Rebecca, Jacob, and Emilie Heagy, and Brooks, Addison and Piper Montgomery.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Roy and Dorothy Moyer; paternal grandparents Henry and Dorothy Heagy; and niece Valerie Heagy.
A drive-by viewing will be held at Gingrich Mennonite Church, 100 Forney Rd., Lebanon, on Thursday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at Gingrich Mennonite Cemetery in South Annville Township, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hershey Medical Center and in hospice care, as well as many “prayer warriors.”
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Adam Montgomery Family at 91 W. Main St., Lebanon, PA 17042, to help with funeral expenses and medical bills.
