The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for 7,500 portable recliner camping chairs distributed by Dover, NH-based NEMO Equipment. The plastic joint supports on the legs can break, posing a fall hazard. NEMO has received 14 reports of falls so far, but no injuries as of this writing.

The recall includes the Stargaze Recliner, Stargaze Recliner Low, and Stargaze Recliner Luxury models that both recline and swing. The chairs, manufactured in China, have an aluminum frame and weigh between five and seven pounds each. They were sold in birch leaf green, graphite, verdigris (teal) and Sedona (red), with a black and gray monofilament mesh seat. They come in a black padded carrying case.

On each chair, the model name is printed on the pocket inside the seat. “NEMO” and the logo are stitched on the back. The affected date codes are November 2017, December 2017, March 2018 or May 2018. The dates can be located on the plastic hub on the inside edge of the leg strut.

The chairs were sold between November 2017 and May 2018 at REI and specialty outdoor stores nationwide, as well as online at nemoequipment.com and REI.com, for between $180 and $220. This most recent recall is in addition to 15,500 units originally recalled in February 2018.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop use of the chairs and contact NEMO Equipment for a free inspection and, if necessary, a free replacement chair.
