Max Habegger, founder of former supplier American Image, passed away on August 11. He was 89.

Born on March 29, 1929, in Berne, IN, Habegger was the youngest of four children to Menno and Lydia Habegger. He will always be remembered for his hardworking attitude and his infinite love for his wife, family and cherished friends.

Habegger was a natural-born salesman who loved sharing his knowledge with anyone who would listen. He began his career as a pharmaceutical salesman in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1982, he invested in Big 10 Productions Inc. as president – the company went on to become American Image. In less than 20 years, the supplier grew from 10 employees to more than 350, which included his daughter LuAnn overseeing accounting and his daughter Renee running the drinkware division. His sons-in-law Mark Knoblauch and Joe Maxey eventually took over the embroidery division and shipping and receiving, respectively. Habegger and his partner Bill Silverman sold the company in 1998.

He became a Trustee of Camp Tejas Ministries located in Giddings, TX. During this time, he and Martha donated money to build the MarMax conference center that would serve as a worship and conference center at the camp. The Westbury Lake House was built as a site for hosting and lodging campers. The Lakehouse has four individual sleeping areas, each named after their beloved grandchildren: Angela Hugghins, Joshua Maxey, Hallie Knoblauch Ross and Trace Knoblauch.

Habegger is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Martha Rose Habegger; his children, Renee Kae Maxey, who is the current owner of American Zebra Line (asi/35745), husband Joe D. Maxey Jr.; Kevin Max Habegger, wife Julie Habegger; LuAnn Knoblauch, husband Mark Knoblauch, vice president of sales/production at Prodigi Embroidery (asi/79686); and David M. Habegger.
