Starline Switches to 100% Solar Power

The supplier says it’s part of a push to reduce its carbon footprint.

Top 40 supplier Starline (asi/89320) has gone solar. The Grand Island, NY-based company has partnered with PureSky Energy to transition completely to solar-generated power. Starline says it’s all part of its ongoing efforts to be more sustainable and reduce carbon emissions.

“Our mission at Starline is to be a true partner to our distributors, and that goes beyond products and service,” said Brian Porter, chief revenue officer at Starline. “We realize that decisions are being made at a global level, and our initiative to be completely solar-powered was driven not only within Starline, but by partner feedback about what they want in a supplier – and that’s accountability.”

Starline completed its transition to 100% solar energy at the end of July, according to Porter. The company’s energy is being generated via PureSky Energy’s new 40-acre solar farm in Grand Island, NY, said Jon Norris, Starline’s chief operating officer. PureSky Energy builds, owns and operates community solar farms across the United States, according to its website. The company has over 40 active and under-construction solar farms, helping more than 5,000 customers sign up for clean energy and helping save more than $5 million in annual electricity bills.

Another benefit of the partnership with PureSky is that the solar farm is open to Starline employees, Porter told ASI Media. “Our employees were able to take advantage of it, and many have switched over to solar.”

Norris said Starline “jumped at the opportunity” to partner with PureSky, adding that though it’s only part of the supplier’s sustainability push, “This commitment was an important milestone toward lowering our carbon footprint.”

Starline is also an active member of the Rainforest Trust, a U.S.-based nonprofit environmental organization that purchases and protects tropical lands to strategically conserve threatened species. Porter noted that Starline has several other sustainability-related initiatives in the works at both its New York and Canadian offices, which the company will be able to reveal at a later date.

Starline ranked 33rd on Counselor’s most recent list of the Top 40 suppliers in the industry, with 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $57.9 million.
