Brian Landow, the founder and longtime CEO of Top 40 supplier Lanco (asi/66224), is no longer at the firm, Counselor has learned. In an interview yesterday, Lanco president Scott Slade confirmed Landow’s departure, but would not comment on the circumstances of his exit. According to Slade, Landow’s departure happened last week and Lanco is not looking for a replacement CEO. “This has nothing to do with the strength of the company,” Slade said. “We’re growing and doing well.”
Landow founded New York-based Lanco in 1984 and built the firm into a perennial Top 40 supplier, selling products from drinkware to bags to awards. Reached by Counselor, Landow declined to comment on his parting with Lanco.
Counselor ranks Lanco as the 28th-largest supplier in the industry after the firm reported 2013 North American ad specialty sales of $52.5 million, a year-over-year decrease of 0.6%. According to Slade, Lanco is on pace to increase its 2014 sales “by double-digits.”
