Choking Hazard Prompts Hoodie Recall

A faulty zipper slider that poses a choking hazard to young children is behind the recall of Falls Creek Kids hooded sweatshirts, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The zippers on the hoodies can detach, with potential for the broken off bit to become lodged in a child’s throat. While there has been one report of the zipper slider body and pull detaching from a hoodie, no injuries have been reported, officials said.

“Consumers should immediately take the recalled hoodies away from children, stop using them and return them to any Meijer store for a full refund,” the CPSC said in a statement. Call Meijer at 800-927-8699 anytime or go online to www.Meijer.com.

Manufactured in China, approximately 25,000 of the hoodies sold exclusively at stores for Meijer – a supercenter chain retailer -- between June and October 2018 for about $14. Grand Rapids, MI-based Meijer Distribution Inc. imported the hoodies. Wholesale Merchandisers, LLC, of Grand Rapids distributed them.
