Galaxy Balloons Acquires Great American Drinkware
Ohio-based Galaxy says the acquisition will help expand drinkware-related products and Made-in-the-USA offerings.
Galaxy Balloons (asi/55675) announced Monday that it has completed the asset acquisition of Great American Drinkware (formerly asi/58098) of West Alexandria, OH. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
Going forward, Great American Drinkware will operate under Galaxy Balloons’ ASI number. Production and inventory for products that include coasters, pill boxes and stadium cups has relocated to Galaxy’s Lakewood, OH location. The products are currently available for sale through Galaxy. “We are excited to manufacture even more items here in the USA and to expand our 5-star service to encompass a broader array of the products distributors can sell everyday to a wide range of their customers,” said Terry Brizz, president of Galaxy Balloons (pictured on the left).
Speaking to Counselor, Brizz said that about 40% of Galaxy Balloons’ products are already made domestically. A desire to add to those stateside-produced offerings was one factor in driving the acquisition. Furthermore, Galaxy has been keen to expand its product portfolio, and Great American Drinkware has categories – particularly drinkware -- that the supplier feels are a synergistic complement to its own line, Brizz said. Great American Drinkware items include everything from tumblers and sports bottles, to flying discs, memo clips and pill boxes. “They have excellent decorating capabilities too,” Brizz told Counselor. “We’ll have a nice heat transfer process to offer.”
Established in 1990, Galaxy Balloons is a supplier of decorated balloons, mini and regulation size sport balls, inflatables, holiday ornaments, stress novelty items and pet products. Over the years, the firm has won Counselor Distributor Choice Awards, including honors in 2018 in the “Inflatables” and “Party & Holiday Supplies” categories. Brizz is a past recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the State of Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Through the end of November 2018, Galaxy Balloons’ order count had surpassed the whole of 2017, Brizz told Counselor. Sales are tracking up 4% overall. “We are on pace to add more than 1,000 new distributor clients by the end of the year,” said Brizz.
Former Great American Drinkware owner Anna Matthews will not be joining Galaxy Balloons.
