Geiger (asi/202900) has released an ESG report, detailing its sustainability and social responsibility efforts and plans.

“For five generations the Geiger family, and the Geiger company, has led with a culture of inclusion and respect. Respect of our environment, employees, sales team, clients and supply chain,” Lantz noted. “Yet, we can and must do more. Our cultural journey broadens and expands as we learn about what it means to be a company that respects and embraces all aspects of sustainability, inclusion, diversity, equity and justice.”

In the report, Geiger noted several of the accomplishments it’s achieved so far, including achieving UPS Carbon Neutral Shipper status, which mitigated 1,192.3 metric tons of CO2 emissions from the environment in 2022. The 700-panel solar array at the distributor’s Lewiston, ME, headquarters has generated enough electricity since installation to prevent the pollution of 1.3 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, according to Geiger.

In addition, Geiger has a zero-landfill policy, with cardboard and mixed paper recycled to produce new boxes, tissue and office paper. Other trash is incinerated to create energy. The distributor says it reuses the boxes it purchases for receiving purposes an average of four times before recycling. Plus, boxes and adhesive tape are made from 85% recycled material and are 100% recyclable.

The distributor also noted that it had achieved an EcoVadis Gold rating for its LEED-certified Maine headquarters in 2023, and an EcoVadis Platinum rating for its U.K. operations.

This year, the company said it plans to achieve 100% sustainable packaging. Geiger also shared its 2024 strategic plan for supplier diversity, including a special-edition e-catalog containing diversity-owned suppliers and priority placement for minority-owned suppliers in a determined number of email marketing campaigns.
