The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for a USB charging hub due to the threat of an electrical shock when the station is connected to an electrical supply. About 550 units are being recalled, after Madison, WI-based LocknCharge Technologies LLC received one report of an Australian consumer experiencing a shock while using the device.

The recalled iQ10 charging stations from LocknCharge, a mobile technology storage provider that is not listed with ASI, allow users to charge and store multiple tablet computers. The stations, manufactured in Australia and Hong Kong, are metal cubes about 16” x 16” x 12.5” with two doors on the front, white sides with black doors, and a black or white top cover. The LocknCharge logo is on the sides.

Each piece was sold with both a blue basket and a green basket containing dividers that hold the devices to be charged. Recalled stations have charging hubs with no batch code or codes that begin with 14L, 15B or 15C, which can be found on the bottom of the device under a silver data label.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled charging stations and contact LocknCharge Technologies (www.lockncharge.com) for a free replacement charging hub and instructions for replacing the charging hub,” said the CPSC in an official recall statement.
