The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for snow globes sold by retailer Coldwater Direct LLC, of Hingham, MA, which operates retail chain Coldwater Creek. The snow globes, made in China, were imported by Grasslands Road, a division of Amscan Inc., in Elmsford, NY, and Evergreen Enterprises of Virginia LLC, in Charlotte, NC.

The CPSC has alerted consumers that light refracted through the globes can singe or melt items they’re in contact with or in the immediate proximity, posing a fire hazard. To date, Coldwater Creek has received notice of one incidence of property damage. No injuries have yet been reported.

The recall involves two snow globe styles. The Reindeer snow globe (style 13826 and model XC7484) contains two white reindeer inside and features a brown and cream base with a wind-up key on the bottom. The Vintage Charm snow globe (style 13660 and model 3WGL120) has a silver snowman inside and silver base. The Grasslands Road logo and style number appear on separate labels on the globes’ underside. The style number is the ninth through fourteenth digits printed on the price label, while the model number is printed on the product packaging.

About 43 units were sold at Coldwater Creek stores nationwide, in the Coldwater Creek catalog and online at www.coldwatercreek.com from October 2017 through December 2017 for about $40.
