Geiger Acquires CM Promotions
As first reported Thursday in a Counselor Breaking News Alert, Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) has acquired Bloomington, IL-based distributor CM Promotions as part of an expansion strategy aimed at broadening Maine-headquartered Geiger’s client base in the Midwest. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
A veteran of the promotional products industry, Connie Mandula started CM Promotions in 2000 and became the sole owner in 2004. She eventually brought two of her daughters on board: Holly Hedges joined in 2005 and Alyssa Mandula in 2016. As a family-owned and operated company, CM Promotions' culture, philosophy and focus on community service make the company an ideal fit for Geiger, principals at the Top 40 family-owned firm said.
CM Promotions will continue to support its current clients and community activities as a part of the Geiger family under the leadership of Connie Mandula. Geiger said its technology will enable CM Promotions to add company stores to its services and to better support its client base.
Geiger buying CM Promotions continues a recent run of acquisitions for the firm. In November, the company acquired Bank Express/Promo Warehouse, a web-based distributor with a national reach that is now operating as a division of Geiger. In March, Geiger bought BTC Group, a U.K.-based promotional products distributorship that was rebranded as “Geiger BTC Group.”
In addition to the acquisitions, Geiger has been active making executive moves. Industry veteran and long-time Geiger executive Jo-an Lantz officially took over as company president this month. This week, the company also promoted and expanded the roles of three key executives – Bob Blaisdell, Dale Denham and Chris McKee.
With reported 2017 North American promotional product revenue of $185.5 million, Geiger ranked 10th on Counselor’s latest list of the largest distributors in the industry. CEO Gene Geiger was the 2018 recipient of Counselor’s Marvin Spike Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor earned for his decades of leadership at the firm and in the promo industry.
