Promo Distributor Owners Killed In Tragic Accident
Troy and Jessica Nelson, owners of Grand Forks, ND-based distributor Trojan Promotions, were killed in a tragic accident on Monday after a 75-foot-tall tree fell into the house they were renting while on vacation, The Associated Press reported.
The couple was staying at a house in the Point Loma Heights neighborhood of San Diego for the weekend after attending an industry expo last week, a Trojan Promotions employee said. A combination of strong wind gusts and soaked ground from recent rain may have contributed to the tree crashing into the house around 6:15 a.m., The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Jessica Nelson's brother Ryan Langerud was also in the house at the time the tree fell, the employee said. He luckily survived. The Nelsons leave behind a German shorthaired pointer dog named Stella.
According to Trojan Promotions’ website, Troy began working at his father’s business forms company in 1990. He created a division that focused on advertising specialties and custom decorated apparel for the B2B market. In 2007, Troy and Jessica made Trojan Promotions a separate entity from Nelson Business forms.
Trojan Promotions was closed on Monday, according to the company’s Facebook page. On Tuesday, the Trojan Promotions Team posted a letter to the page thanking customers for their support and pledging to stay open for business.
“For the foreseeable future, we are all committed to continue assisting you and we will work hard to carry on as Trojan Promotions. Please do not hesitate to continue placing orders and feel free to contact us about anything you may need,” the post said.
