Cimpress Reports Quarterly Sales
The Top 40 promotional products distributor’s global sales for its recently closed fiscal Q2 topped pre-pandemic revenue.
Cimpress (asi/162149), a Top 40 promotional products distributor whose divisions include Vista and former Top 40 firm National Pen, increased sales and earnings in the second quarter of its 2022 fiscal year, which concluded on Dec. 31.
Dundalk, IE-headquartered Cimpress reported on Jan. 27 that total global revenue across all its divisions increased 9% year over year to $849.71 million. Notably, Q2 2022 sales were also up about 3.5% from the second quarter of Cimpress’ fiscal 2020, which corresponded to the calendar year fourth quarter of 2019, the last quarter in which the marketplace wasn’t affected by COVID-19.
For the second quarter of fiscal 2022, Cimpress’ net income was $54.79 million, a year-over-year rise of nearly 70%. Basic earnings per share for the quarter were $2.10, up from $1.24 the year prior, while diluted EPS was $2.08, a jump from $1.22 in the comparable timeframe a year ago.
“Cimpress delivered solid financial results for Q2 FY2022 while continuing significant organic investment, particularly in the Vista business, against a backdrop of continued pandemic volatility and supply chain challenges during the seasonally important second quarter,” said CEO Robert S. Keane.
Vista, Cimpress’ flagship division that includes Vistaprint, 99designs by Vista and VistaCreate, increased sales in the quarter to $448.11 million. That was up 4% compared to the same three-month period in the previous fiscal year and 3.4% when measured against fiscal Q2 2020.
National Pen’s sales were $124.71 million, up nearly 9% from the year before but down 2.5% from 2020’s Q2. Keane, however, noted that National Pen delivered record segment EBITDA in the recently closed quarter, and that “revenue growth prospects are improving as National Pen increases its focus and resources on e-commerce.”
Last October, Cimpress acquired Crello, a do-it-yourself digital design platform that competes with popular graphic design platform Canva. At the same time, Cimpress announced the launch of the Vista division.
Cimpress’ estimated full-year 2020 North American promotional product revenue of $429.3 million ranked the company sixth on Counselor’s most recent list of the 40 largest distributors in the industry.
