Orbus Wins Award for Environmentally Responsible Practices

The Woodridge, IL-based supplier received two Best in Biz awards – one for its environmentalism and one for overall excellence.

Orbus Exhibit & Display (asi/75209) was recently lauded as one of the most environmentally responsible companies of the year – one of two accolades the Woodridge, IL-based supplier picked up from the 2022 Best in Biz awards.

Orbus received a bronze award for environmental responsibility and a silver award for Midwest company of the year. It’s the third year that Orbus has won Best in Biz awards.

“It’s an honor to once again be receiving two Best in Biz awards,” said Orbus Vice President of Marketing Natalie Whited. “Orbus is especially proud to be presented the award for Most Environmentally Responsible Company of the Year as we are deeply committed to limiting our environmental impact.”

Winners in the Best in Biz awards are determined by an independent judging panel made up of prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications in North America. In its 12th year, the program saw fierce competition among more than 700 entries. Judges highlighted how difficult it was to select winners, noting that they were impressed with the winning companies’ visionary leadership, innovative strides, laudable workplace best practices and continued investments in their environmental and corporate social responsibility programs.

“The entrants in Best in Biz awards teach us again a grand truth about organizational karma: The rewards come to those who figure out how to give more, do more, be more,” said Dale Dauten, King Features Syndicate, a longtime judge for Best in Biz. “These are the companies that you want to work for, work with, buy from and root for. They are the corporate equivalent of a life well-lived.”

Environmental responsibility has been one of Orbus’s goals for a while. Last year, Orbus announced that it had recycled more than 80% of its total waste output in 2021, a 2.7% increase from 2020. Recycled materials included aluminum, plastic, fabric, steel, cardboard, cores and paper. Overall, the supplier recycled more than 869,000 pounds of material in 2021 and expected to surpass that amount in 2022. The supplier has been committed to the ISO 14001 standards for environmental management and eco-conscious efforts in its operations for more than a decade.

Sustainability has become a priority for promotional products suppliers. HanesBrands (asi/59528) recently received high marks in climate change and water security assessments from CDP, a nonprofit that runs a global environmental disclosure system. Top 40 suppliers SanMar (asi/84863), Gemline (asi/56070) and Koozie Group (asi/40480), as well as Montreal, QC-based Gildan, are among some of the other suppliers announcing sustainability-related initiatives and accolades in recent months.
