Geiger Earns EcoVadis Gold Ranking

The Top 40 distributor’s U.K. operations received a Platinum rating from the sustainability assessment platform last year.

Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) is being recognized for its sustainability efforts.

The Lewiston, ME-based company earned a Gold rating from EcoVadis, putting the distributor’s global headquarters among the top 5% of companies ranked.

EcoVadis is a globally recognized assessment platform that rates businesses’ sustainability based on four key categories: environmental impact, labor and human rights standards, ethics, and procurement practices. To achieve Gold status, companies must score above 70% overall, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable practices.

Last summer, Geiger’s U.K. operations received Platinum EcoVadis status for the second consecutive year, ranking in the top 1% of assessed firms.

“Far beyond products, it’s our purpose,” said Jo-an Lantz, Geiger’s president and CEO and a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of promo’s most influential people. “This EcoVadis recognition fuels our mission to create a greener future, one product, one choice at a time.”

David Geiger, vice president and general counsel at Geiger, called the gold and platinum ratings from EcoVadis “a remarkable achievement.” He added: “This acknowledgement reaffirms that we’re on the right path. By prioritizing environmental and social responsibility, Geiger is not only setting a positive example for the industry, but creating a more sustainable future for all.”

Geiger’s U.S. headquarters is powered by a nearly 700-panel solar array, demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency. It also has a dedicated division responsible for vetting suppliers, ensuring ethical practices and minimizing environmental impact throughout the supply chain.

Geiger was also one of the first – and now the largest – donor of the SHAREcenter, an upcycling nonprofit in Lewiston, ME. The SHAREcenter program collects unwanted goods – everything from furniture, paper and craft supplies to promotional products – and gets them in the hands of local educators and community members in need. Peter Geiger, fourth-generation family owner, serves as chairman of the board of directors for the SHAREcenter.

The distributor’s other social responsibility efforts are listed on a dedicated page on its website.

A privately held, fifth-generation family-owned business, Geiger has offices in the U.S. and Europe and is affiliated with more than 450 independent sales representatives. The company ranked ninth on Counselor’s most recent list of the Top 40 distributors in the industry, with 2022 North American promotional products sales of $327 million.
