Target Marketing Group Acquired by Banyan
The Owings Mills, MD-based distributor will be combined with Banyan-owned Helm Promotions, though both entities will retain their current branding, employees and locations.
Banyan Technologies Group has completed the acquisition of Target Marketing Group (TMG; asi/341691) in Owings Mills, MD. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tanvir Arfi, founder and CEO of Banyan, said his company is excited about the acquisition. “We look for quality assets with competent management teams in attractive end markets with no prior institutional capital,” he added. “TMG checked all of these boxes.”
Founded in 1986, TMG is known for its positive employee culture and “absolute commitment to client satisfaction,” said John Leahy, founder and CEO. “We have established a culture that rewards relentless pursuit of performance excellence and customer service, which is evident from our average employee tenure of 15-plus years, and our average client tenure of 15-plus years,” he said.
Banyan will be combining TMG with its Helm Promotions (asi/223630). Both distributors will continue to use their existing brands and retain all their existing locations, capabilities and employees.
Rob Ross, chief operating officer and an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, has been promoted to president and COO of the combined TMG and Helm business. Ross said he’s excited to bring “industry differentiating capabilities” to clients. In-house capabilities, he added, include printing, apparel decoration, digital marketing and a dedicated AI-powered analytics/business intelligence team.
Leahy has also joined the new business in a C-suite capacity where he will continue to drive sales, mentor Ross and advise the Banyan board.
Founded in 2018, Banyan is primarily focused on the automotive aftermarket. Its current portfolio consists of industry-leading companies that provide tech-enabled services and software to well-known brands.
