The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall for baby clothing from retailers Babies R Us and BuyBuy Baby as well as several online retailers. The snap at the crotch of the recalled coveralls can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants. Burt’s Bees Baby has received 11 reports of the snaps detaching. No injuries were reported and no ASI-listed firms were named in the recall notice.

The infant Butterfly Garden Coverall & Hat sets, made in India and imported by Ayablu Inc. and DBA Burt’s Bees Baby of Fairfield, CT, has a white ruffle around the neck that runs down the front of the garment and has snaps in the crotch. Sold in sizes NB, 3M, 6M and 9M, the coveralls are 100% organic cotton and were sold in blossom pink with white butterflies. “Burt’s Bees Baby” and the garment sizes are printed on the inside back of the garment and the manufacture date code of August 2016 is printed on the inside garment tag located inside the seam of the garment. Only coverall sets with style number LY24195 on the hangtag are included in the recall.

Approximately 8,500 pieces of the infant wear were sold in the U.S. (and about 44 pieces were sold in Canada) and online at burtsbeesbaby.com from December 2016 through May 2017 for about $18. The CPSC is asking that consumers stop using the infant wear immediately and contact Burt’s Bees Baby to receive a pre-paid envelope to return the garment for a $20 e-gift card to be used at www.burtsbeesbaby.com.
