Hirsch Gift (asi/61005) has voluntarily recalled wireless charging pads in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Houston-based supplier has received seven reports of the phone chargers overheating. While that poses a burn hazard to consumers, no injuries have been reported, the CPSC said.

According to the recall notice, the CloudCharge Qi Wireless Charging Pads were distributed as a promotional giveaway to employees and customers of various companies between February and May of 2018. About 21,000 units were sold.

“About a month ago, we initiated a voluntary recall by contacting all distributors that ordered the specific version of the CloudCharge Wireless Charging Pad,” Peter Hirsch, owner of Hirsch Gift, said in a statement. “So far, the recall has been a success due to our team alerting affected distributors prior to the official recall being announced.”

According to the CPSC, the product name and model number T4706 are printed on the bottom of the chargers, which were made in China. The recalled chargers are circular and have a white plastic bottom with the top having various promotional artwork. The chargers measure about 4” in diameter and .5” tall. A white USB power cable is included along with a wireless receiver adapter.  Each charging pad and accessories are packed in a white plastic box with a clear lid, measuring approximately 5” x 5” x 1.25”.  This recall involves only one production lot (Version 2) of the charging pad.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chargers and contact Hirsch Gift for a free replacement,” the CPSC said in a statement.
