Taylor Communications To Close Columbus, OH Facility
Top 40 promotional products distributor Taylor Communications (asi/333647/121500) is shuttering a facility in Columbus, OH, according to a filing it made with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.
The closure of Taylor’s Vectra Visual location at 3950 Business Park Drive will result in 63 workers being laid off, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice that Taylor filed with the state. Layoffs are expected to begin September 3rd and conclude by the end of the month. Vectra Visual, a Taylor subsidiary, is a retail printing company. Its website indicates that it has additional locations in New Jersey and Oregon.
Counselor contacted Taylor Communications for comment, but hadn’t heard back as of this posting.
It wasn’t clear how, if at all, the closure/layoffs in Columbus might impact Taylor’s operation in Dayton, OH. The Top 40 firm employs about 700 people across two facilities in Dayton. In 2015, Taylor Corporation – Taylor Communications’ parent firm -- bought Dayton, OH-based former Top 40 distributor Standard Register in a bankruptcy auction.
Based in North Mankato, MN, Taylor Corporation is one of the largest privately held companies in the U.S. It encompasses more than 80 subsidiaries located in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Sweden, France, Bulgaria, India, China, and the Philippines.
Taylor Communications ranked 7th on Counselor’s just-released 2019 list of the largest promotional products distributors in the industry. Taylor earned the ranking based on reported 2018 North American promo product revenue of $248.2 million, which was nearly 5% more than 2017’s annually total.
