The Top 40 distributor also said that net income rose 9%.
Top 40 promotional products distributor Cintas (asi/162167) increased revenue and earnings in its 2023 fiscal year, which concluded May 31.
That’s according to financial data released July 13 from the Cincinnati, OH-headquartered corporation, best known for its uniform rental and facility services.
Cintas said across its entire business that revenue – the majority of which is generated outside the promo industry – rose nearly 12.2% year over year to about $8.8 billion.
The company didn’t break out promotional products revenue in particular, but noted that its uniform rental and facility services business generated nearly $6.9 billion – up 10.8%. Other business segments combined reached more than $1.9 billion, a 17.9% increase.
The bottom line also performed well: Company-wide net income tallied $1.34 billion, a 9% annual jump. Basic earnings per share were $13.21, up 11%, while diluted EPS climbed 11.5% to $12.99. Operating income increased 13.6% to $1.8 billion.
Cintas concluded 2023 with revenue and net income gains in its fourth quarter, also ended May 31. Sales rose 10% year over year to about $2.3 billion. Quarterly net income increased 17.6% on an annual basis to $346.2 million. Basic and diluted EPS were up, registering $3.39 and $3.33 respectively. Operating income reached almost $471 million, a 16.4% leap.
“Our business continues to demonstrate momentum as we can provide nearly every business across North America a product or service to help them build a better workday,” said Todd M. Schneider, CEO/president of Cintas.
The corporation is predicting growth in its new fiscal year, which began June 1. “We expect (annual) revenue to be in the range of $9.35 billion to $9.50 billion and diluted EPS to be in the range of $13.85 to $14.35,” Schneider said.
Based on estimated 2021 North American promo product revenue of $177 million, Cintas ranked 14th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry. The new list is due out later this month.
