The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall for children’s playwear from retailers Layette, Hip Hip Hip Hooray and Born Children's Boutique. The buttons on the garments can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Lila + Hayes has received eight reports of the buttons detaching. No injuries were reported and no ASI-listed firms were named in the recall notice.

The Benton and Eloise pima cotton, sleeveless, bubble playwear, made in Peru and imported by Lila + Hayes in Fort Worth, TX, has a snap closure at the bottom and crisscross straps that button over the shoulders on the front of the garment. Sold in sizes NB, 0-24 months, 2T and 3T, the Benton style comes in navy, white, light blue and blue and green ticking stripes. Sold in the same sizes, the Eloise style comes in navy, white, pink and blue and green floral. “Lila + Hayes” and the garment size are printed on the inside of the back of the garment and manufacture dates codes for December 2016 (DEC16) and February 2016 (FEB16) are printed on the inside garment tag located inside the seam.

Approximately 600 pieces of the playwear were sold in the U.S. and online at www.lilaandhayes.com from February 2017 through April 2017 for between $45 and $65. The CPSC states that consumers should stop using the playwear immediately and contact Lila + Hayes to receive a pre-paid mailer envelope to return the garment for a full refund.
