Scalable Brands Acquires PMGOA
PMGOA will now be known as Promoful.
Texas-based promo supplier PMGOA (asi/79982) has been acquired by Scalable Brands, an e-commerce-focused venture capital firm that operates in the promotional products and print-on-demand industries, executives report. PMGOA will now be known as Promoful.
Scalable Brands is also bringing SameDayPOD under its umbrella, which includes Swagify.com. The entities will go to market as Promoful and SameDayPOD. Financial terms were not released.
Industry veterans Louis Massaro and Ben Taylor will head the divisions. Massaro, who was president of PMGOA, will lead SameDayPOD as president. Taylor will be president of Promoful. They’re charged with leading the vision, growth and overall day-to-day executive leadership of the respective organizations.
“We are super excited about our two acquisitions. Both companies offer unique services and are led by industry veterans who put distributors over profits,” said Nick Kurji, CEO of Scalable Brands, a Texas-based company that operates on a vertically integrated model.
Massaro’s promo industry experience includes being manager partner at supplier Cooler Graphics (asi/80345) for nearly 18 years. He was also a national sales manager for Resellers Line before joining PMGOA as president in April 2020.
A former U.S. Marine, Taylor was chief marketing officer and vice president of business development at supplier BamBams (asi/38228) from June 2015 to November 2019. His experience also includes being head of growth for cybersecurity tech company Vigilant Cybersecurity, as well as being director of marketing at Zippy Shell, where executives say he was integral to that firm’s growth as an Inc. 500 company and making Inc.’s Top Franchise list. Of late, Taylor was acting as an adviser to Scalable Brands and SameDayPOD.
“We are excited to have both Louie and Ben join the team,” said Andrea Perales, chief operating officer at Scalable Brands, a firm that’s made the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies. “Our proprietary workflow and print-on-demand technology is what makes us unique. Our industry is driven by relationships and we look forward to helping distributors pivot into the digital world.”
SameDayPOD is an API-driven supplier that says it’s using technology to reinvent the Print on Demand (POD) industry, supporting enterprise-level organizations. The company has more than 120 employees and offers POD and cut-and-sew technology that’s been key to driving what executives described as triple-digit growth for the past three years. “Today, we’re on track to produce more than 2 million shipments across 185 different countries,” the company said in a statement.
Swagify, described as Scalable Brands’ technology division, is an on-demand promotional products and fulfillment printing company that aims to help brands scale their businesses without inventory. Customers include corporate brands, influencers, schools, organizations and e-commerce entrepreneurs. “With over $10 million invested in equipment, we use industry-leading tech to fulfill more than 1 million items every month,” executives said in a statement. “We have two fulfillment centers in the USA and hundreds of partner facilities.”
Offering what leaders detailed as fast turn times, made-to-order sourcing and domestic production, Promoful has a broad offering of promo products. “Our aim is to provide exceptional service and creative ideas to help our distributors succeed,” the firm said. “We lead with innovation, own our technology stack and most importantly, we maintain our distributors to be our partners. Those partnerships are our top priority.”
