Gemline Partners With Milk Bar and Folly Coffee

The Top 40 supplier is adding offerings from the artisanal food/drink brands to its Gourmet Expressions line.

Things just got a little tastier at Gemline (asi/56070).

The Lawrence, MA-headquartered Top 40 promo products supplier is again expanding its Gourmet Expressions food gift line with the additions of two new brand partners. There’s Milk Bar, which offers mostly sweet and some savory treats. And there’s Folly Coffee, makers of small-batch, roasted, single-origin specialty coffees that have won awards.

Milk Bar cookies

Milk Bar cookies are among the new offerings in Gemline’s Gourmet Expressions collection.

“We are thrilled to add new products from Milk Bar and Folly Coffee into our growing Gourmet Expressions business,” said Gemline President Frank Carpenito. “We look forward to continuing to offer customers unique, branded food gifting experiences that deliver a memorable and lasting impact.”

Founded by James Beard award-winning pastry chef Christina Tosi, Milk Bar first opened its doors in New York City’s East Village in 2008. The bakery soon developed a loyal fan base and grew to prominence, with its creative approach centered on new takes on familiar treats. Bon Appétit magazine called Milk Bar “one of the most exciting bakeries in the country.”

Meanwhile, Rob Bathe left behind a career in craft beer sales to found Folly Coffee in 2018 after becoming, in his words, “obsessed with high-end specialty coffee” upon being introduced to it by a friend. Based in St. Louis Park, MN, the small-batch roaster is independently owned and operated. Head roaster/coffee director Jeff Mooney places a sharp emphasis on ethical sourcing.

Gemline noted that it now has 20 brands in its Gourmet Expressions line of artisanal food gifts. Eight of the brands are women-owned, the supplier pointed out. Gemline launched Gourmet Expressions in 2018, and says the collection has experienced considerable growth. Further expansion of the line could be forthcoming.

“Look out for even more new gourmet food gifts from us just in time for the busy holiday gift-giving season,” said Carpenito.

Founded in 1958, Gemline currently ranks as the 12th largest supplier by revenue in the North American promo products industry based on 2020 sales of $115.5 million to the market. The new rankings are due out in July. Gemline Chairman/CEO Jonathan Isaacson is second on Counselor’s most recent Power 50 rankings of promo’s most influential people.
