CPSC Recalls Combination Battery Chargers/Hand Warmers

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall on combination battery chargers/hand warmers from Beanworthy, LLC of Newark, DE. The Human Creations EnergyFlux and EnergyFlux Slim can overheat, potentially causing fires or burning users, according to officials. While there have been two reports of the products catching fire, no injuries have been reported, the CPSC said.

The combination hand warmers/battery chargers were sold exclusively online at Amazon.com from October 2015 through February 2016 for about $30 each. Approximately 12,700 units were purchased. Shenzhen Olive Technology Co. LTD of China manufactured the products and Beanworthy imported them.

According to the CPSC, the recalled chargers/handwarmers were sold in eight colors – black, gray, pink, red, orange, green, blue and white. Phrases “Human Creations EnergyFlux 4400 mAh” or “Human Creations EnergyFlux Slim 4400 mAh” are printed on the side of the chargers/handwarmers. EnergyFlux 4400mAh measures about 3.5”x 2.3” x 0.97”. EnergyFlux Slim 4400mAh measures approximately 4.2” x 1.7” x 1”.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled combination battery charger and hand warmer and contact Beanworthy for a free replacement product,” the CPSC said in a statement. “Beanworthy is contacting purchasers directly.”

Consumer safety officials said Beanworthy can be reached online at efr.beanworthy.com or by calling toll-free 877-405-4998. According to the company website, Human Creations is a brand of KindMinds Innovations Inc. Beanworthy, also known as TrueToSource, is the authorized seller and sole distributor of Human Creations products.
